Robert Emil Madison, 88, of Pottsboro, passed away on Monday, Jan. 22, 2024 at Texoma Healthcare Center. Born July 12, 1935 in Billings, Montana, he was the son of the late Emil and Esther Madison. Bob served four years in the United States Army from 1954-1958, and in 1958, he married Nora Roberts Madison.
A natural-born businessman, Bob started his career as a territory salesman for Red Wing Shoes in Sapulpa, Oklahoma in 1960. For the next eight years, Bob was instrumental in helping the company reach new heights, selling $1 million worth of shoes in a single year not once – but twice.
In 1962, Bob and Nora welcomed their first child into the world, a daughter, Mitzi Ann Madison Gant. Seven years later in 1969, Bob and Nora gave birth to their son, Michael Robert Madison.
From 1968-1980, Bob served as a national sales manager at Red Wing Shoes. He moved to the Sherman/Howe area in 1981 to join the family business – Remcor, Inc. – which was started by his father. Under Bob’s guidance, Remcor, Inc. became a staple in the Texoma area and statewide, building, manufacturing and delivering agricultural sprayers.
Bob was a Paul Harris Fellow at Hurricane Creek Rotary and a lifelong Episcopalian, serving in a variety of capacities including vestry, choir and lay eucharistic ministry.
In 2011, Bob lost Nora to her battle with Alzheimer’s. On Dec. 28, 2013, Bob married Elsie Mae-Sharp Madison and moved to Pottsboro, where she loved and cared for him in his final years.
Bob is preceded in death by his first wife, Nora Roberts Madison; parents Emil and Esther Madison, and sister, Carol Shull.
