Obituary For Robert Lee Owens

Robert “Bobby” Lee Owens, Jr., 62, of Sherman, TX, passed away on Wednesday, August 27, 2025.

He was born in Sherman, TX on June 3, 1963. Robert graduated from Sherman High School. A trained machinist, Robert was currently employed at Progress Rail.

He had a passion for fishing, Nascar, and Motorcross. Robert, his sons, and his lifelong buddy, Jeff Reber, would regularly attend Supercross races together. He loved movies, blues music, and all animals loved him.

He was preceded in death by his father Robert L. Owens, Sr. and his sister Alice Elaine “Lanie” Robinson.

He is survived by his son Nathan Owens and his wife Sheila and granddaughter Addelyn Rose and John Owens and grandchildren Kalvin Robert and Lexie Rae; his mother Margie Helen Owens of Sherman; his sisters Cathy Holt (Ricky) of Whitewright and Carol Quinn (Bill) of McGregor; his brother-in-law Fred Robinson of Missouri; and his nieces Nicole Holt (Geronimo Rodriguez), Kimberly Robinson, Mary Luker, Kelly Robinson (Tori), Erin Flood (Reece and son Joseph).

Pallbearers will be Nathan Owens, Don Dacon, Eric Dacon, Jeff Farlow, Jeff Reber, and Geronimo Rodriguez.

Funeral services are being arranged by Dannel Funeral Home. Visitation for Robert will take place on Thur. Sept. 4, 2025, from 6-8pm. Services will occur on Friday Sept. 5, 10am and will be followed by a reception before internment at Randolph-Lindsey cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Texans for Safe and Drug-Free Youth (txsdy.org) and Home Hospice of Grayson County (homehospice.org).

The family of Robert wishes to extend our sincerest thanks to his nurse Mike and caregiver Sharon for taking such good care of him during.

    Just here to say goodbye. Haven't seen Bobby in thirty years but thought of him often. One of my best friends growing up, we were classmates 1-12. He lived just a few block away and we hung out a lot, riding our dirt bikes, discovering and listening to the Beatles and laughing a lot. A whole lot. Bobby was quiet, yes. But, what a great sense of humor. It was that humor that got us through the day working out our first job. He was hired first, then he got me hired and we would carpool in his truck. I'm sorry we lost touch after graduating, and I wish I had seen his obituary in time to make the funeral. But I didn't. So I'll say my farewell here. My condolences to his family and friends, I know he will be missed. Goodbye my friend. Thanks for memories and Godspeed. John Bock
