Obituary For Rodolfo "Rudy" Olvera III

Rodolfo “Rudy” Olvera, 58, of Denison, Texas, passed away on March 30, 2025, with family members by his side. Rudy was born on December 10, 1966, in Alice, Texas to Rodolfo Olvera Jr and Virginia McMahen.

Rudy was a beloved son, husband, father, brother, uncle and grandfather. We remember him not for his passing, but for the incredible life he lived. Though our hearts are heavy with grief, we also find comfort in the memories we shared, the love he gave, and the lasting impact he had on all of us. Rudy was a man of many talents and passions, a high school and college cheerleader, a fearless bull rider, and a dedicated nurse. His love for animals was unmatched, from being a self-proclaimed “chicken whisperer” to cherishing every moment with his beloved dogs. He loved the casino; he had an uncanny ability to read those slot machines like a pro. His creativity also knew no bound, he developed a love for quilt-making. Truly, there was nothing he couldn’t do. But if you asked Rudy what his greatest accomplishment was, he wouldn’t mention any of these things, he would say it was being married to his husband, Tim. They spent 18 wonderful years together, celebrating 17 and a half years of marriage since their wedding on July 25, 2007. Their love was an inspiration to us all. He and Tim loved escaping to Cancun every chance they had. Rudy loved education and inspired many, he emphasized the importance of earning a degree and encouraging others to never give up, no matter how hard it got. And he truly lived by those words, never giving up on working toward his own doctoral degree. He was not just an inspiration; he was the best mentor any of us could ask for. Rudy’s love for his family and friends shined the most during the holidays, especially at Christmas. It wasn’t just about his December birthday or the fact that he could grow his beard to look like Santa, it was about bringing everyone together. He cherished the laughter, the warmth, and the simple joy of having his loved ones in one room. He had a way of making everyone feel special, whether through a heartfelt conversation, a thoughtful gesture, or simply his presence.

We are grateful for the time we had, the lessons he taught us, and the love that will never fade. Though he is no longer physically with us, his spirit lives on in our hearts, in our memories, and in the kindness, he showed to the world.
