Obituary For Rose Simonian

Rose Simonian was born on September 5, 1920 in Bettendorf, Iowa, the second oldest of eight children. She peacefully passed away on December 24, 2023 in Denison, Texas.

Her family moved to a farm in Crowley, Colorado when she was three. After graduating from Crowley High School, she embarked for college but soon returned home after a devastating hail storm struck the family farm. She moved to Denver in 1946, where she began her 38 year career as a switchboard operator at Public Service of Colorado. Later, she served as Supervisor of Communications for the Denver area for 27 years until her retirement in 1982. In 2001, she moved to Sherman to be near her sister and family. She was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church and a resident of Celebration Senior Living where she formed several friendships and shared in many celebrations.

Rose was preceded in death by her parents, Misag and Shoeg Simonian; sisters, Margaret Kidwell and Mary Nelson; brothers, Charlie Simonian and Isaac Simonian; and nephew, Billy Baker. She leaves behind sisters, Esther Baker of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Mabel Bauer of Sherman, Texas; brother Jacob Simonian of Lakewood, Colorado; nieces and nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, and great-grandnephews.

Her family wishes to extend our sincere gratitude to the staff at Celebration Senior Living, Heart to Heart Hospice, doctors, nurses, physical therapists, her faithful caregiver Lisa Brown, and many other caregivers that have touched her life in the past five years. She was known to almost all as “Aunt Rose”.

Per Rose’s request there will be no services. Memorials may be sent to Trinity Lutheran Church, 1515 N. Travis Street, Sherman, Texas 75092.
