Obituary For Rosemary June Mulder
Rosemary Hatfield Mulder, long-time resident of Sherman, TX, passed away peacefully on May 17, 2021 at age 90 in the comfort of her home surrounded by loved ones.
Graveside services will be held 10:00 am Friday the 21st of 2021 at Cedarlawn Chapel on the Hill with long-time friend Keith Clark, officiating. Arrangements are by Dannel Funeral Home. Friends are welcome to attend and are asked to follow safety guidelines relative to social distancing and facial masks.
Rosemary was born in Sherman on November 15, 1930 to Ruth Lowe Hatfield and Emil Hatfield, Sr. She attended Sherman public schools and just prior to graduation, she married Doyal Mulder. They were married for over 50 years until Doyal’s death. They had one daughter, Linda Jean Mulder, who preceded her mother in death.
Rosemary worked 30+ years as an Administrative Assistant to the Education Department at Austin College where she supported the professors and sat on several committees. She loved working with the students and was a mother figure to many in her program and encouraged and supported their goals. She was even known to call certain students that were habitually late to early morning classes to make sure they were awake and on their way to class. She was fondly known as “Peppermint Pattie” by the staff and students because she always kept a candy bowl on her desk available to anyone who needed a sweet snack. In fact, when she retired from the college, she was presented with her very own stock to the Hershey company since she had made such an investment in their products.
Rosemary was a talented vocalist and participated in several choral organizations in the Sherman area, including the North Texas Concert Chorale which was directed by her daughter Linda. She was also highly active in the local chapter of Professional Secretaries International (PSI) and was recognized as Secretary of the Year in 1985.
Rosemary was much loved by her many friends and family, and never met a stranger. Anyone who accompanied her could not be in a hurry as she would always make time to stop and visit with a friend, she was sure to see---or a stranger for that matter.
She is preceded in death by her parents, and four siblings: Emil Hatfield, Jr., Donald Hatfield, Nancy Hatfield Everett, and Mickey Hatfield Larkin in addition to her beloved daughter Linda and husband Doyal.
She is survived by multiple nieces and nephews including Theresa Larkin McGinness along with her husband John McGinness and daughters Tabitha and Kathryn of Howe, TX. Patricia (Tricia) Larkin Smith, her husband Doug and their daughter Casey of Denver, CO. Michael and Twila Larkin and their son Drew from Albuquerque, NM.
The family of Ms. Mulder wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the loving caregivers from Sher-Den Home Health and Heart to Heart Hospice.
