Graveside services for Roy Carl Osborne, Jr. of Sherman, Texas, will be held on Friday, June 3, 2022, at 2:00 PM at Cedarlawn Memorial Park in Sherman. Rev. Joe Ed Goosby of First United Methodist Church in Sherman will officiate. For anyone who wishes pay their respects, Roy will lie in state at Dannel Funeral Home on Thursday from 10:00 AM until 4:00 PM.
Roy was born in Sherman, Texas, on April 5, 1949, to Roy Sr. and Martha Short Osbourne. He was raised and attended schools in Sherman, graduating from Sherman High School in the class of 1967 and later he graduated from East Texas State University. He worked in the family business, Osbourne Heating and Air Conditioning, for many years. Roy loved playing golf with his friends at Woodlawn, playing cards at Sherman Country Club and he loved watching westerns, especially Bonanza, Gunsmoke and any movie with John Wayne in it. Roy loved people! He always had a kind word and a smile on his face for whomever he saw. He was always there for his mother while he was physically able to be. Even though his speech and physical limitations made communication difficult, he enjoyed all activities with his classmates and friends more than any of them knew.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his friends, cousins, and other relatives.

I enjoyed visiting with Roy at Celebration. Reminiscing about the '64 Scout Jamboree at Valley Forge, brought some smiles and chuckles. He will be missed.

I was a friend of Roy, Jr's father and mother, Roy and Martha Osborne, as we often golfed together, attended the same church, and took short trips family together. Roy, Jr often talked someone into bringing him to the EX-Students Museum so we could talk over these family trips . He so enjoyed his classmates and friends. He will be missed.

Thankful to all of those who showed love and kindness to our cousin Roy. His mother and our mother were sisters. My sister and I have always lived a long distance from him and our Texas family. The miles kept us from seeing him only a few times in our childhood and adults lives but our hearts were always connected. At one time I was able to enjoy phone visits and that always meant a lot to me. I know he is at peace and in heaven now. We will see him again.
Once again to you we were friends and family to Roy we are sorry for your loss. Cynde Elbe and Sara Frerichs

Thank you, friends, classmates, and caregivers for all you have done to make Roy's life safe and comfortable over these many years when he needed you most. I know my Aunt Martha would have been so comforted to know of your precious attention to his care in her absence. Thank you Linda Salinas and family and Jan Bateman and family for all you have meant to our cousin and his family and for letting those of "us cousins" in remote places have the assurance that he was not alone.
Sincerely,
Ron Coker
