Obituary For Roy Swartzrock
Roy Swartzrock 90 went home to be with the Lord on Jan. 16 2012. Arrangements are under the direction of Dannel Funeral Home. Visitation will be Wed. Jan 18 from 6-7 p.m. Graveside services will be held at the Dodd City Cemetery on Thursday Jan. 19 at 10 a.m. The Rev. Joe Ed Goolsby and Dr. James E. Pledger will be officiating assisted by Rev. David Taylor and Jim Lingo. Roy was born in Allen Chapel TX on Aug. 16 1921 to Edwin and Pearl Taylor Swartzrock. He married Magdaline Arterburn in Bonham in 1946 with the Rev. Mood officiating. Roy served 23 months in Europe during WWII. He was a member of the 842nd Air Engineer Squadron and received three EAME Campaign medals. Roy was employed by Chase Chevrolet for many years in the parts department. A member of the First Methodist Church he served as an usher for 49 years at Hopkins Chapel. He also served on the Administrative Board the AW Team for many years made screens for Great Days of Service and delivered meals for Meals on Wheels. His hobby was working in his shop making wood objects which he enjoyed sharing with friends. Three things he was especially devoted to: his church his country and his wife. Predeceased by his parents Roy is survived by his wife Magdaline and his dear friends Jim Lingo Sandy Carroll Betty Roberts and Lee Hartwig.
