Obituary For Ruby Hooker
Ruby Jewel Hooker was born September 18, 1921 to Mamie Lee and Bony Parks Anderson in McKinney, Texas, and went home to our Heavenly Father on May 17, 2014, surrounded by her family in the comfort of her home. Graveside services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 21st in West Hill Cemetery. Rev. James Moore, of Fairview Baptist Church, will officiate. Ruby lived in Bethel, Texas, with her mother - who had lost her eyesight soon after her husband’s untimely death, when Ruby was only two years old – and her five siblings, until she met and married her life partner and husband of 66 years, Howard C. Hooker. They made their home in Sherman, where they raised their children, Billy, Bobby and Becky. Ruby devoted her life to being a servant of the Lord, trusting Him with all aspects of her life completely. She excelled in her role as wife, mother and homemaker, providing an unconditional love to all who entered her home, family and friends alike. She led by example, faced life with strength, grace and humor, and left a legacy of love, kindness and acceptance for her children, grandchildren and friends. Her love of life, family and Jesus Christ fills our hearts with many special memories. Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Howard, grandsons John Britton Hooker and Travis Rogers, four sisters and one brother.
