Obituary For Ruth Caple
On Wednesday February 4th 2015, our beloved loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother, Stella Ruth Caple, was called home to her Father's side to join her daughters Katherine Gunn and Connie WallowingBull, who preceded her in 2011. Ruth, as she liked to be called, was born September 9th 1924 in Lamport, Colorado to Myrtle and Norman Dwight. In 1943 she graduated from High School in Fort Collins CO, and attended training for nursing until 1945, when she left to marry her childhood sweetheart and love of her life, Lt. Colonel John W. Caple. Ruth worked as a telephone operator until the birth of her second child in 1951 when her husband finished school and they became a proud Air Force family. This is where her adventures began. The little family of 5 traveled Europe, visited exotic places and lived near Hahn Air Force Base in Germany. In 1965 they moved back to the states to Spokane, WA, transferring to Perrin Air Force Base in 1967 and settling into the Texoma community. After retiring from the Air Force in 1973 she and her husband traveled North America in their beloved Airstream trailer. In 1979 they began raising two of their grandchildren, in Sherman, TX, where she volunteered as a "Grey Lady", was involved in the local chapter of Camp Fire and was an active member of the Sundowners Craft Club. She was very active in the lives of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She attended Cornerstone Baptist Church in Sherman. In 2012 an injury from a fall led to a serious decline in her health. She is survived by her brother and sister Frank Dwight and Bessie Downey of Pueblo, CO; her husband Wayne, son John, daughter-in-law Susan, and son-in-law Robert Gunn; as well as numerous grand and great-grandchildren. The void that the loss of this beautiful, lovable, tenacious, open-hearted matriarch leaves is monumental and she will be greatly missed. Family night will be Tuesday February 10th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m, and funeral services will be held on Wednesday morning at 10:30, both at Dannel Funeral Home in Sherman. Dannel will also accept flowers on behalf of the family.
Condolences
