Obituary For Ruth Faye Taylor

It is with much love that we announce the passing of Ruth Taylor, of Sherman, on November 19 at the age of 91 years. With her family by her side, Ruth peacefully left us to join her Savior, Jesus Christ, in Heaven. “Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.” John 14:1-3 Ruth was born in Sherman to Fred and Lucille Brassart in 1929. A graduate of Sherman High School, she was a secretary at Perrin Air Force Base and then served as a secretary at Grayson Bible Baptist Church from 1972 until her retirement in 2013. During her 40 plus years as church secretary, she served under pastors Don Elmore, Tommy Stone, and Eddy Johnson. In retirement, she volunteered as a Pink Lady at Wilson N. Jones Memorial Hospital. Ruth enjoyed traveling and always looked forward to annual snow skiing trips with her church family. She was a person of faith and lived life serving others. As a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she was dedicated to her family and would always make them a priority over herself. Her love for her family was expressed in many ways and that love will remain with us forever. As a co-worker and friend, you could always count on her in a time of need. She also had quite a sense of humor and you can be assured that if there was laughing going on, she was right in the middle of it! At Grayson Bible Baptist Church, she served alongside her late husband, Rex Taylor, as leaders of the children’s church ministry for 25 years. Her love for children and passion to teach them about Jesus was perhaps her greatest accomplishment. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Rex Taylor, and great-grandson Noah Rawlins. Survivors include her children; son Jerry Rawlins and wife Rhonda, daughter Pamela Hutson and husband Weldon, daughter Debbie Welch and husband Charlie, and son Jim Taylor and wife Laurie, her grandchildren; Jason Hutson and wife Delana, Keith Hutson, Christy Hutson, Jared Hutson and wife Alyssa, DeAnn Drewry and husband Keith, Kim Matlack and husband Jeremy, Melissa Carter and husband Jared, Steven Rawlins, Josh Ailey, Aldyn Taylor, and Mason Taylor, and great-grandchildren; Tyler, Kyle, Claire, Avery, Landon, Aaron, Mason, Ethan, Jayden, Kinley, Bryson, Hudson, Allie, and Easton, and brother; Robert Brassart. A visitation will be held from 10:30-11:00 am on Monday, November 23 at Grayson Bible Baptist Church in Sherman, with the funeral service to immediately follow at 11:00 am at the church, with Rev. Dr. Eddy Johnson officiating. Guests are requested to practice social distancing and wear masks. A private interment, limited to family, will follow at Cedarlawn Memorial Park. Arrangements are under the direction of Dannel Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Grayson Bible Baptist Church. The family of Ruth Taylor wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Preston Place and CarePlus Hospice.
