Obituary For Scott Hayden Peck
Scott Hayden Peck, devoted husband, father, son, and brother passed away on August 17, 2023. Scott was born June 8, 1964 in Portland, Oregon to Myron Hayden Peck, II, and Marilyn Joy Campbell. Growing up in an Air Force family, Scott got to live in many different places throughout his childhood, including Goose Bay, Labrador, Brookfield, Connecticut, and Lubbock and Dallas, Texas.
Scott graduated from Texas Tech University in Design Communications. He owned Scott Peck Design and was a Creative Director for most of his career, providing award-winning marketing and design services for a wide range of business, municipal, non-profit and educational clients. He was also a talented illustrator and illustrated stories for The Friend magazine, Highlights for Children, Horse & Rider, Scholastic and Sports Illustrated for Kids.
He met the love of his life, Jacqui Hayden, on a blind date set up by Scott’s best friend’s mother and Jacqui’s mother. Scott was a private pilot and Jacqui a student pilot. They spent many wonderful times taking trips in the Cessna 172. They were married October 14, 1989 in the Dallas, Texas Temple. They lived in Plano, Texas for twelve years. Their three children, Taylor Marie Peck, Samantha Paige Peck and Cole Hayden Peck were born there. In 2001 they moved to the family pecan farm in Bells, TX, where they enjoyed fishing in the pond, going on long walks on the trails with their dogs Bogey and Freckles, watching the sunset from their front porch, and harvesting pecans in the fall. Scott was a dedicated and present father, raising his kids with love, wisdom, and humor.
Scott was a steadfast disciple of Jesus Christ. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints and served faithfully in many church callings including Bishop, High Counselor, Public Affairs Director, and Young Men Leader. The calling he most enjoyed was teaching the twelve-year-old youth. Scott was an active member of the Boy Scouts of America and was an Eagle Scout. His trips to Philmont Scout Ranch as a youth and later as a leader were some of his most treasured adventures.
Scott loved the outdoors. His favorite places to be were hiking in the San Juan Mountains, staying at the family cabin in Red River, New Mexico, canoeing the Buffalo River with a fishing pole in hand, flying in the Cessna 172, taking family vacations in Maui, Hawaii, and exploring Chile and Switzerland with his son Cole. Landscapes from his travels often served as the inspiration behind the beautiful paintings he created.
