Obituary For Scott Totten

Scott Wallace Totten, 55, lifelong resident of Sherman, passed away July 20, 2016. A Celebration of Life is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 23rd, at Dannel Funeral Chapel. Longtime friend Dr. Tom Cox will lead in the celebration. Scott was born June 4, 1961 in Sherman to Harold and Joan Totten. He graduated Sherman High School in 1979, and attended Centenary College in Louisiana. He recently retired from the family business, Washington Iron Works, in Sherman. Scott was active in the Sherman Preservation League and was passionate about the restoration and revitalization of the C.S. Roberts House and Museum in Sherman. His love for history also included a fascination with cars. Scott adored his nieces, Heather and Hayley, and took advantage of every opportunity to spoil them. He also loved his canine companions, Anna and Daisy. They were with him everywhere he went. His family and friends will miss his sarcasm, wisdom, technical support and, most of all, his loving personality. Survivors include his father, Wally Totten, of Sherman; sister Susanne Totten Hogue and husband Rance, of Wichita Falls; nieces, Heather Hogue of Chandler, AZ, and Hayley Turnquist and husband Cameron, of Midland, TX; Aunt Jane Rayl of Bolivar, MO, and numerous family and very close friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Joan Totten; brother Stephen Hughes Totten; maternal grandparents Claude H. (Shorty) and Mozelle Barrett and Jimmie Barrett; paternal grandparents H.W. Sr and Thelma Totten. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Sherman Preservation League, 915 South Crockett Street, Sherman, Texas 75090 or a charity of your choice. Services are under the direction of Dannel Funeral Home in Sherman.
