Obituary For Sharie Daugherty

Our dearest angel, Sharie Barnett Daugherty, 65, of Sherman, went to her heavenly Father, February 5, 2020, after a short illness.

A Celebration Gathering of Sharie’s Life will be held on Sunday, February 16th, from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM at Dannel Funeral Home in Sherman. The family would like to invite all who attend Sharie’s gathering to honor her by wearing her favorite color, burnt orange.

Sharie was born in Bangor, Maine to George Barnett and Earnestine Gist Barnett on November 19, 1954. A graduate of Sherman High School and the University of Texas, she married the love of her life, Mike Daugherty on February 5, 2019 in Paris, Texas. Sharie lived and worked in the Dallas area for most of her adult life where she was also a board member to the Dallas Opera and volunteered for several years at the Dallas Museum of Art as well as many other charitable organizations. She returned to Sherman in 2014 and worked as office manager for Grand Avenue Presbyterian Church in Sherman.

She was a devout Longhorn fan and truly bled “Burnt Orange”! Sharie and her husband Mike were avid concert goers, loving all genres of music from classical to classic rock.

Sharie is preceded in death by her parents, sister, Reymie Ann Barnett and brother, Tommy Barnett.

Sharie is survived by her loving husband, Mike of Sherman; four step-children: Josh, John and Shawn Daugherty and step-daughter Kayla Daugherty; two brothers: Jeff Barnett and wife Donna of Pottsboro, and Charlie Barnett and wife Janet of Coweta, Ok; two sisters in law: Cindy Daugherty of Sherman and Jane Barnett of Denison; many nieces, nephews and cousins that she adored.

Beautiful inside and out, she was a “tell it like it is” yet kind and wise, sage of a soul.

Condolences

My deepest condolences to you, Mike on the passing of Sharie. She was always willing to help me out with anything accounting wise in the parish of St. Francis, Lancaster, and as I often told her how I appreciated her being my second set of eyes, and how I enjoyed her company on the Saturday before my AUP when we would work until lunch and then head to her favorite spot in town, Hickory House for BBQ. She always treated me to lunch for my birthday. We spoke often of the similarities between you and Cliff, and I thank her so much for making the trek to Lancaster once a week last May to help out with A/P and A/R while my husband and I were in Alaska. I will miss her dearly, as she always lent an ear and a smile to help me out in tough times. May you rest in peace my dear friend. I love you!

Sharie was an important member of the Dallas Opera Guild and generously volunteered not only her time but her valuable office skills to the Guild. She was a wonderful friend and help to me when I served as Guild President. We all enjoyed her posts of Facebook after she moved away from Dallas. She was such a fine, outgoing person who had many friends. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Marilyn Halla

So sorry to hear this. I grew up with Sharie--went to Crutchfield, Piner, and Sherman High with her, but lost touch after we graduated. My sincere sympathy to her family.
