Obituary For Sharon Schmidt

Sharon Sue Cox Schmidt, 84, of Pharr, Texas, passed away unexpectedly after a brief illness, on May 16, 2018 in Sugarland, Texas. Funeral services will be held 2pm, Monday, May 21, 2018 at Dannel Funeral Home with Pastor Darrin Begley of God’s House Houston, officiating. Burial will follow at West Hills Cemetery, Sherman. Arrangements are by Dannel Funeral Home. Sharon Sue Schmidt was born Quanah, Texas to Levis and Rosalind Cox on December 14, 1933. She went to school in Sherman. She married Smitty Robert (Bob) R Schmidt on June 14, 1952 in Sherman. She graduated from Sherman High School, Class of 1952. She worked in her younger years for the FBI and she kept the books for their pool company while being a stay at home mom. They attended First Baptist Church in Plano, Texas. Sharon is preceded in death by parents, Levis and Rosalind Cox, and daughter Baby Schmidt. Sharon is survived by her husband Robert R Schmidt, daughter Jana Kay Bravo and husband Lonnie, daughter Ann Schmidt Sontag and husband Ron, sister Marilyn Deans, grandchildren Shelley Swaim, Isaac Miller, Eulalia Woodley, Christopher Bravo, Stephanie DeShaw, Jennifer Brennan, Sarah Roxburgh, John David Witte, Michelle Witte, Bonnie Nava, Patricia Roberts, Ronnie Sontag, and 21 great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be (John David Witte, Caiden Brennan, Robbie Deans, Ronnie Sontag, Ken Cargill and Chris Swaim. Honorary Pallbearers Lonnie Bravo, Ron Sontag. The family would prefer plants in lieu of flowers. The family of Sharon Schmidt wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the Doctors and ICU Staff at Sugarland Memorial Hermann Hospital for their compassion and kindness, our God’s House church family in Houston for loving us, praying for us and crying with us, Maxine Dale in Pharr, Texas, Mike Witte for opening his home for her Celebration Gathering and Sandy Lee Nelson for her love and friendship.

    Sharon became friends during high school. She and Schmidty came to our reunions and we got to visit then. She will be missed by everyone in our class as well as her family.
