Obituary For Shirley Dendy

Shirley Jane Rounsavall Dendy was born December 11, 1949 at Katy Hospital in Denison, TX. She died Sunday August 6, 2017 at home in Sherman, TX. She graduated from Denison High School in 1968. She started out as a secretary at American Bank, then worked at the Credit Department, & finally served as a vice-president in charge of corporation acquisitions for a total of 29 years when she retired in 2011. Shirley bravely battled cancer for 6 years. She was an artist who specialized in drawing in various media and took classes in Sante Fe, N.M. through the years. Some of her art work will be displayed at Family Night. Her and her husband Len were involved in Sheltie Rescue 11 years in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. Shirley’s favorite singing group was Il Divo. Her and Len attended several Il Divo concerts across the US and Canada. Shirley and Len were married September 9, 1977 at the First Baptist Church in Sherman, TX. They were married almost 40 years. Survivors include her husband Len Niles Dendy, sister-in-law Jo Anne Dendy Margolis Sales and brother-in-law Hugh Sales of Krammerton, N. Carolina, and nieces Emily, Lori, and Elizabeth Margolis, and great nephew Jack. Also surviving are her 3 beloved shelties Micha, Nicho, and Shadow. Shirley was preceded in death by her daughter Vicki Dendy, her mother Ann Rounsavall, and her father-in-law and mother-in-law John and Margurite Dendy. Family Night will be Friday, August 11, 2017 from 6-8 PM at Dannel Funeral Home in Sherman, TX. Services will be Saturday, August 12, 2017 at 11:30 AM at Cedarlawn Memorial Park in The Chapel on the Hill Mausoleum in Sherman, TX. Bro. Steve Stell will officiate. Pallbearers will be Don Manuel, Noel Barrett, Hugh Sales, and Jim Salling. Memorials may be made in her name to Women Rock in Sherman, TX or to the DFW Sheltie Rescue.
