Shirley Delores Rushing, 76, of Sherman, passed away Saturday, January 3, 2015, at Texoma Medical Center. Her family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday evening, January 7th, at Dannel Funeral Home in Sherman. A Celebration of Shirley's life is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. Thursday, January 8th, at Grayson Bible Baptist Church. Pastor Roy Webster will officiate. Interment will follow in Luella Cemetery immediately afterward. Shirley was born June 6, 1938 in Walnut Hill, Illinois, to Theodore and Juanita Phelps Bartelmey. She had lived in Texas for 32 years, and was a faithful member of Grayson Bible Baptist Church for most of that time. On August 30, 1991, she married Joe Rushing in Arlington, TX. Shirley worked at Texas Instruments for over 15 years, in both manufacturing and in the security division. She had also worked as a shipping dispatcher for P.I.E. and Spector trucking companies. In her leisure, Shirley was most likely to be found immersed in a new 'favorite' book. She also loved to relax with needlework projects and gardening. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, her son Dean Perkins and two brothers, Mel and Allen Bartelmey. Survivors include her husband Joe; sons, Jeffrey Joe Rushing of Florida, Daniel Wade Rushing and John Henry Rushing, both of Whitewright, TX; daughters, Dawn Krutilla of Chicago, IL, and Stephanie Irene Pettett of Lane, OK; brother, Theodore Bartelmey of Ottawa, IL; sisters, Ruth Franks of Durant, OK, and Roxanne Bartelmey of Sherman; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Serving as pallbearers are: Gary Rushing, David Shamasko, Jerry Lee Rushing, Daniel Rushing, Alex Rushing, and Sky Pettett. Honorary/Alternate pallbearer is Phillip Rushing. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Grayson Bible Baptist Church, 4400 E. US Hwy 82 in Sherman, TX(75090).
