Obituary For Stellagene Teague Shelton

Stellagene Teague Shelton, 78, of Sherman, passed away on February 7th, 2024 in Denison. Funeral services will be held 1:00pm Monday February 12, 2024 at First United Methodist Church in Sherman with Joe Ed Goolsby of First United Methodist Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Dannel Funeral Home.

Stellagene Teague Shelton was born in Nacogdoches, Texas to Clifton Eugene and Stella Hargis Teague on September 3, 1945. She went to school at Sherman High School. She married Joe Max Shelton on December 28, 1962 in Glenrose, Texas. She attended Texas Christian University from 1963-1965. She graduated from Grayson County College with a Degree in Nursing in 1977. She worked as a Registered Nurse in the Labor Delivery for Wilson N Jones for over 30 years. She worked for IBM for 4 years traveling to different hospitals around the country teaching others new medical operating systems. She finished out her career in the home health industry in McKinney, Texas. Where she worked for 8 years and retired in 2020. She was involved in Sherman Service League, Grayson County Attorney Association for Wives and Bell Choir of First United Methodist Church.

Stellagene Teague Shelton is preceded in death by her husband, Joe Max Shelton. Daughter, Suzanne Shelton Cookston. Father, Clifton Eugene Teague. Mother, Stella Hargis Teague. Sister, Connie Sharon Teague Borg. Grand Parents Clifton C. and Jo Lisenby Teague. Grand Parents, John Arlington and Vera Mae Hargis. Niece, Tammy Lynn Curtis.

Stellagene Teague Shelton is survived by Daughter Joahanna Shelton. Daughter Janetta Shelton Patton and spouse Thomas Garrett Patton. Sister, Dianna Lynn Curtis and her husband Richard Lynn Curtis. Brother Jo Michel Teague and wife Kathy Rowlands Teague. Brother Patrick Clifton Teague and wife Debbie Burleson Teague . Grandchildren Lauren Denette Jensen, Dylan David Jensen, James Lynn Richardson, James Robert Cookston III, Jessie James Cookston, Major Shelton Patton. Great-Grandchildren, Austin David Krueger, Kylee Elizabeth Fruen Dial, Seth Abel Echols, Ashlyn Machelle Jensen, Hannah Stella Deniece Jensen, Riley Renne Jensen, Ingrid Davida Richardson Jensen, Kinslee Marie Richardson, Karsyn Jo’ Richardson. Great-Grand daughter Alice Marie Dial.

Memorials may be given to Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children. The family of Stellagene Shelton Teague wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Nursing staff at Texoma Medical Center, 7th floor, for all the great care, compassion and honor they gave. Once a Nurse, Always a Nurse!

    Stellagene came to Phoenix several years ago. We had dinner together where we shared many memories of our times at Sherman High School. I was saddened to hear the news of her passing. My deepest sympathies to her family. Carolyn Hudnall Cooper, SHS 1963
