Sue and I traveled many miles together when we were both on the board of the Northern Texas/Northern Louisiana Synodical Women's Organization Board. She always had a story to tell about the town, road, etc., wherever we went. I will always remember Sue as our resident Katie Luther who truly became "Katie" when she went to churches all over the USA and various local organizations to tell Katie's life story. I always enjoyed helping Sue play Bingo at the Homestead and visiting with her - and know her family meant the world to her. She always had a big smile when showing me pictures of all of you, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A dear friend and a devoted Christian, Sue will be missed by both her family and friends. May your family find peace and comfort in the knowledge that Sue is finally out of daily pain and is now telling her stories in Heaven. She lived her life to the fullest - right up to the end. Treasure your precious memories - Sue was definitely one of life's "jewels." ~ Mary Slice, Durant, Oklahoma

I worked with Sue in the Registrar's Office at Austin College, and served with her at the Little Theater. She spoke highly of her family and loved her grandchildren dearly. She had a wonderful sense of humor and a true zest for life, and a servants heart... We will miss you. ~ Carole Abbott, Frisco, Texas

Greetings to you two Sappenfield young men, and other family members. She is to be joyfully remembered through many many years of friendship, from south Travis street to assisted living facilities. Her full life of enthusiastic service was most commendable, particularly those campus years when we were associated at Austin College. Peace be with you as you reflect upon all that she was able to provide for you. Clyde L. Hall

JANIS ROBERTS THOMPSON
A few years ago when I was cleaning out closets I found my old notes from Bob. Thank goodness we grew up before cell phones and facebook. His notes were full of life, funny poems and colorful pictures. I took them to Sue one day so that we could laugh and remember those fun days. I was so fortunate to have had the opportunity to rekindle our past friendship. If it had not been for Sue and all of her help at the AC Library, there would probably be no senior centers or meals on wheels. She is the one who always helped me to research grants and funding opportunities long before computers were invented. Many hours were spent going through card catalogs. Thank you Bucky and Bill for sharing your mom with us all. I feel certain she is catching Bob up on everything that has happened in Sherman during the last 50 years. She will be missed!! ~ JANIS ROBERTS THOMPSON, SHERMAN, Texas

I have known Sue all my life..we were both in Dorchester. She was the one I looked up to and thought was so pretty. I remember her wedding at the church in Dorchester..she was a beautiful bride. We have spent many hours going over our genealogy since we share ancestors and had more fun with that. I could sit and listen to Sue for hours with her perfect recall on facts of our ancestors. She will be greatly missed and leaves an empty place in my life. Prayers for peace and comfort for the family. Love you ~ James and Alice Stewart, Dorchester, Texas

Vicki Yowell
Sue has been my friend since 1969 when I was 16 and our family moved to Sherman and joined Trinity Lutheran Church. She was my Luther League sponsor and Sunday School teacher. She gave me and my future husband tickets to see the Sherman Community players production of "I Do, I Do!" with Norman Bennett in 1970. Over all these years she has welcomed me back to Sherman from whatever far place I went. She was always smiling, always encouraging, always investing in others. God comfort your dear ones, Sue. Sincerely, Vicki Henry Yowell ~ Vicki Yowell, Indian Head, Maryland
