Obituary For Sue Thurston

Sue Ann Thurston, of Sherman went to her heavenly home on Friday, September 2, 2016 at the VA Hospital in Dallas, Texas after a brief illness to be reunited with her grandson, Jordan Johnson who preceded her in death in December of 2015. She was born on September 5, 1954 the daughter of Marettia Forbes and Bobby Derald Ethridge in Ft. Worth, Texas. She was a graduate of Diamond Hill Jarvis School in Ft. Worth. She entered the United States Army in 1974 during the Vietnam Conflict serving for 3 years as a Stock Clerk, Clerk Typist and with the Military Police unit. She was awarded the National Defense Service Medal for serving her Country proudly. After her military service, she married George Anthony Thurston in Ft. Worth, Texas. She received her nursing degree from Tarrant County Jr. College in 1981 and was employed as a Registered Nurse in skilled care at the Collinsville Nursing Home, Collinsville, Texas. She was a member of the Temple of Hope Faith Grace Church of Sherman, Texas and enjoyed reading her bible. She was also a member of the Humane Society and was a great follower of Focus on the Family a Christian organization. She loved going on walks, enjoying a movie and swimming. She is survived by her son, Joshua and wife, Nikki Thurston of Sherman, daughter, Beth Ann Thurston and husband Christian Sephton of Sherman; and a brother, Jimmy and wife, Kathy Ethridge of Whitesboro; and Grandchildren, Ryan Thurston, Shelby Lynn Luster, Allison Thurston, Jack Thurston and Katelynn Thurston. Honorary Pallbearers are grandchildren, Jordan Johnson, Ryan Thurston, Shelby Lynn Luster, Alison Thurston, Jack Thurston and Katelynn Thurston. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, September 10, 2016 at Dannel Funeral Chapel in Sherman with Pastor Samuel Castle of Temple of Hope Faith Grace Church of Sherman officiating. Interment will be in White Mound Cemetery, Tom Bean, and Texas at a later date. White Mound Cemetery is located 2.2 miles west of Tom Bean and .8 miles north of FM 902. White Mound Cemetery Road is on the West side of Hwy 11. Arrangements are under the direction of Dannel Funeral Home, Sherman, Texas.

    Sue Ann was a special lady, She was dedicated to Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior her family and her profession, nursing. She also loved her friends and work family. Sue Ann is truly missed. love n hugs n prayers to family n friends! ~ Kathy Ethridge, Whitesboro, Texas
