Tara Kathleen Baker, 49, of Sherman, passed away at UT Southwestern in Dallas on June 30, 2026, after a fierce battle with a stroke and other complications.

Tara was born in Sherman, Texas, on April 9, 1977, to Bonita Ann Baker Calhoun and was raised in Sherman. She lived with her Aunt Cathy and her Nannie Claire and helped raise her siblings and cousins. Tara was very family centered. She loved seeing and interacting with her niece, nephew and younger cousins. She was big fan of Harry Potter, Xena Warrior Princess, Sims, Gilmore Girls, crafting, painting, knitting, drawing. She was very shy but had a huge heart for people she was close to. Tara was kind, was always willing to listen, and loved to express herself creatively. She will be greatly missed.

Tara is preceded in death by her Nannie Claire, Step Father Roger Calhoun, Great Aunt Ellen Lafoy, Great Uncle Frank Connor, Great Aunt Dorothy Connor, and Great Aunt Elaine Tyson. She is survived by her aunt Cathy Baker; mother, Bonita Ann Baker Calhoun; sister, Stephanie Aguilar and husband Jose; brother, Connor Calhoun; niece, Evelia and nephew Noah, cousin Andrea Piotrowski and her daughter Eliza; cousin De’ja Oliver and wife Mariah; Aunt Cindy Baker, cousin Allison Baker, and cousin Ricky Baker and wife Meagen and their two sons Max and Reece; Great Aunt Linda Denison and Great Uncle Richard Connor and his wife Julie.
