Obituary For Terry Eugene Campbell, Sr.

Terry E. Campbell Sr., lovingly known as “Pops,” of Sherman, Texas, passed away on September 29, 2026, at the age of 90, surrounded by his family. He was a cherished father, grandfather, and friend who lived a life filled with love, laughter, hard work, and devotion to his family.

Terry was born on May 30, 1936, in Pilot Point, Texas, at Rest Cottage for Unwed Mothers to Mary Morris and Frank Warren. His birth name was Stanley Edward Morris. On June 3, 1936, he was adopted by his loving parents, Clara Mae Campbell and Jessie Leonard Campbell, and given the name Terry Eugene Campbell.

In 1953, Terry enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. Following his honorable discharge, he began working as a mechanic and eventually opened his own shop, Campbell’s Garage. Through his dedication and hard work, he built a life and legacy that his family will always remember.

On June 19, 1954, Terry married Martha Sue Hammock, the mother of his seven children. Family was always an important part of his life, and he took great pride in the people he loved.

After the passing of his adoptive parents, Terry began a journey to discover his biological roots. Determined to find his birth family, he obtained a judge’s approval in Austin, Texas, to unseal his adoption records. His search led him to his biological mother, Mary Winona Morris, who was still alive. He was fortunate to spend three wonderful years getting to know her and building a relationship with her. Sadly, his biological father, Frank Edward Warren, had already passed away. Through his search, Terry discovered that he had four siblings on his mother’s side and six siblings on his father’s side.

One of Terry’s most cherished traditions was camping and fishing at Blue River with his boys and grandsons every fall when trout season began. These trips created treasured memories and strengthened the bonds between generations. The time spent together was something he deeply valued.

Terry loved all of his family and was proud of each and every one of them. His life was filled with meaningful relationships, unforgettable memories, and a love that extended across generations. Though he will be deeply missed, his legacy will live on in the hearts of everyone who knew and loved him.
