Obituary For Tom Malone Hudgins, Jr.
Tom Malone Hudgins, Jr. was born in Sherman, Texas, and attended Sherman Public Schools, graduating in 1974. He continued his education at Austin College and the University of Texas at Arlington.
Tom began his public accounting career working alongside his father at Tom M. Hudgins and Company. Following his father’s passing, he worked for several local CPA firms before answering the call to serve his country. Tom served in both active and reserve duty from 1983 to 2004 with the Joint Special Operations 10th Special Forces Group and the 12th Special Forces Group.
He later moved to Frisco, Texas, where he continued his professional career with UHY Advisors (2004–2009) and BDK (2007–2009). Most recently, he served as the Regional Vice President of Business Development at Merritt Hawkins from 2009 to present.
Tom was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Tom Malone Hudgins Sr. and Ruth Hudgins, as well as his grandparents, Harry (Pete) M. Hudgins, Josephine M. Hudgins, Jefferson D. Wilder, and Minnie J. Wilder; sister, Kathleen H. Beale (Chris), and nephew, Jon M. Jordan (Kristi).
Tom leaves behind a rich legacy of family who loved him dearly:
He is survived by the love of his life and most steadfast supporter, Jennifer Calvin.
His children, Shane M. Hudgins (Jesse), Mallory H. Canaday (Nathan), Ryan N. Hudgins (Savannah), and Blake S. Hudgins (Avery). His beloved grandchildren David P. Canaday, Caleb W. Canaday, Nora M. Canaday, Ryli R. Hudgins, Ford R. Hudgins, and Chase M. Hudgins.
His siblings Josephine (Joey) H. Jordan, Harry M. Hudgins II (Tonya), Bruce W. Hudgins (Sharon), and Ruthann H. Pilkilton (Mark).
His nieces & nephews: Sara E. Schlotz (John), Chad A. Beale (Edy), Adam Beale, Harry (Trey) M. Hudgins III, Bruce J. Hudgins, and Emily P. Mason (Charles).
Tom was also blessed with many grandnieces, grandnephews, cousins, and friends, all of whom held a deeply special place in his heart.
Tom was a truly kind, loving man who lived life to the fullest. He treasured his many friendships as true gifts and deeply valued everyone who shared in his life's journey. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A Celebration of Life for Tom will be planned at a later date.
