Obituary For Tommy Patton

Send Flowers Tommy Wayne Patton left this world on August 26, 2016. He was admired for his unique personality and loyalty to all his friends. He will be missed by many and was loved by all who knew him. Tommy was born March 9, 1947 to Tom Z. Patton and Anita Taylor Patton in Sherman, Texas. He attended Sherman Schools and graduated with the class of 1965 whose motto was "65, Best alive". After graduation he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1968. Prior to his deployment to the Vietnam War he married the love of his life, Glenna Louise Campbell on December 14,1968 in Sherman, Texas at St Stephens Episcopal church. Thus began a marriage that lasted 34 years until the death of his wife in 2003. To this marriage was born three sons, Thomas Garrett Patton, Robert Shea Patton and Nathan Wayne Patton. Thus began the adventure of raising three boys which brought about many challenges, both laughter and tears and many trips to the emergency room at Wilson N Jones Hospital. During this time they were often phoned by concerned neighbors, loving friends and sometimes even the police. Tommy was preceded in death by his father Tom Z. Patton and his wife Glenna Patton. He is survived by his beloved mother, Anita Patton of Whitesboro, Texas, three sons and daughters-in-law: Garrett and Janetta Patton of Sherman, Texas, Shea and Amanda Patton of Lantana, Texas, Nathan and Jenna Patton of Sherman, Texas. Sister in law and brother in law, David and Donna Davis of Florence, Texas. Grandchildren: Zoe Patton, Madison Raesly, Major Patton, Lola Patton and Shea Patton Jr. The Memorial Service for Tommy will be held Thursday September 1 at Dannel Funeral Home Chapel in Sherman,Texas at 7pm. Family visitation will be at 6pm prior to the service. During the service an opportunity will be given for friends and family to share a story of remembrance as a tribute to his life. It has been said that, "Family isn't always blood. It's the people in your life who want you in theirs; the ones who accept you for who you are and the ones who would do anything to see you smile and to love you no matter what." Our sincere ''Thanks" to the many Friends: companions, schoolmates, soul mates, and confidants who have shared with our "Dad" all the value that make you so special..... above all, your unconditional love f or him. The times in his life that were chaotic were made peaceful by your steadfast dedication to his needs. When he was overwhelmed, you gave him peace and hope. You showed daily that the love of God means love of others. You knew that the gifts Dad always treasured most over the years were small and simple. In easy times and tough times, he knew you had been listening to his needs, to his joys and to his challenges and you made possible every opportunity for him to "celebrate life". My God bless each of you as you have blessed our Dad! With our Gratitude, The Sons of Tommy Patton
