Obituary For Vick Gotcher
Vick Gotcher, 72, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Tuesday, November 29, 2016 in Celina, Texas. Family visitation will be at 1pm and funeral services will be conducted by Rev. Joe Goolsby at 2 pm on Friday, December 2, 2016. Service and visitation will be held at Dannel Funeral Home in Sherman, Texas. A graveside service will immediately follow at the Georgetown Cemetery, Cemetery Road, Pottsboro, Texas, and the United States Marine Corps will render honors. Vick was a loving son, brother, father and grandfather who devoted his entire life to his family. He was born October 9, 1944 in Whitesboro, TX to John W. (Jay) and Lois Gotcher who both preceded him in death. Vick is survived by his children, Vicki Gotcher and her husband, Scott Gearhart of Alexandria, VA and John Andrew Gotcher and his wife, Valerie Gotcher of Prosper, TX and Vick’s two grandchildren, Avarie Gotcher and Evan Gotcher, also of Prosper. He is also survived by his siblings, Leslie Walsh and her husband, Neil, of Lewisville, John Gotcher and his wife, Holly, of Greenville, and Gloria Brooks and her husband, Keith, of Sherman. Vick graduated from Sherman High School in 1963 and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Commercial Art from East Texas State University, Commerce, TX in 1967. Vick enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1968 and completed officers training school in Quantico, VA. He proudly served his country as a 2nd Lieutenant until his honorable discharge 3 years later. Following his enlistment with the Marine Corps, Vick worked in national sales for Nissan heavy equipment. Vick was known for his big personality, his loud voice, and his fun and funny spirit. His laugh and sense of humor will be greatly missed. He loved the Rocky Mountains, working outside, painting/drawing, and spending time with his children and grandchildren. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation for the love and care provided to Vick by Settler’s Ridge Memory Care in Celina, Texas. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the American Brain Foundation, americanbrainfoundation.org or a charity of choice.
