Obituary For Viola Brice
Viola Everett Brice long time resident of Sherman passed away at The Homestead of Sherman on September 7 2012. A Memorial Service for Mrs. Brice will be held at Covenant Presbyterian Church in Sherman on Saturday September 22 2012 at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. Neill Morgan officiating. Mrs. Brice was born on August 8 1912 in Denison Texas to Walter Clarence Everett and Ruth (Hodges) Everett. She recently celebrated her 100th birthday. Mrs. Brice was known as one of the "Golden Rule"Ã?Â쳌 students attending Golden Rule School first as a student in the first grade and then later at the tender age of eighteen became a teacher there. She earned her Bachelors Degree at Austin College and later earned her Masters from Austin College as well. Golden Rule students and teachers have been meeting every summer for a reunion for several decades. She taught in Sherman for forty years before retiring at the age 66. However even then she was called to be a substitute teacher. Mrs. Brice always said that she enjoyed teaching everyday and did it because she loved to teach. She was truly a wonderful accolade to the teaching profession. Mrs. Brice married Robert Ernest Brice in 1932 in Denison TX. He preceded her in death in 1999. She was also preceded in death by her parents. Mrs. Brice has three surviving children, Boyce Walter Brice of Sherman Nancy Brice Shultz and husband John Thomas of Belleville NE and Mary Ruth Brice of Denison one grandchild Melissa Mroczek and husband Nick and three great-grandchildren.
