Obituary For Viola McCullough

Viola McCullough was born in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, June 28, 1923, to Otto H. and Marie Owens Klemke. Viola grew up in Lusk, Wyoming, and met Dell McCullough at a local dance. They married in April 1943, making Cheyenne, Wyoming their home. Viola was a dental assistant at Warren Air Force Base, worked with Frontier Realty in downtown Cheyenne, and retired from the Wyoming State Department of Agriculture in January 1976. Dell and Viola enjoyed Arizona winters for 13 years in Mesa, with homes in Colorado and California before returning to Cheyenne in 2003. Viola was always ready to celebrate life as an active member of The Red Hat Society, Cheyenne Lady Newcomers & Friends, the Wyoming State Retired Employees, with her neighbors and ‘Happy Girls’ in Wyoming, and her ‘Gal Pals’ at The Villas of Sherman, Texas, where she moved in 2010 to be near her daughter Valerie and Ray Gustafson at Lake Texoma. Viola has been a special blessing and inspiration with her spicy sense of humor, her fun style and positive attitude – we miss you! Viola was preceded in death by her parents, husband Dell in Cheyenne in March 2007, son Gary McCullough of Liberal, KS, brothers Otto A. Klemke of Riverton, WY, and Kenneth Klemke of Chula Vista, CA. She is survived by: daughter Valerie; son Roger McCullough(Linda) of Liberal, KS; Beverly Carlson(Delee) of Chappell, NE; sister Geri Mackley (Gale) of Charleston, WV; sister-in-law Elvia Klemke of Chula Vista, CA; five grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren; many dear cousins, nieces and nephews; and a host of friends. Viola was called home on April 21, 2014, in Sherman, TX. Dell will be interred with Viola in Georgetown Cemetery privately. At their request, there will be no services. Several Celebrations of Life will be held at later dates.
