Obituary For Viola Sanders

Viola Lucille Sanders, 78, was born in Chicago, Illinois on October 26, 1939 to Orville Lowell Askren and Florence Frey Askren. She passed from this earth on December 10, 2017. She was raised in Horton, Kansas. Vi, as she like to be called, graduated from Horton High School in 1957. She worked for Anderson Clayton in Sherman for 23 years and retired in 2001. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sherman. Viola had a large circle of friends and enjoyed being busy and belonged to many groups including the St. Mary's LRS class, bunco group of Van Alstyne, Quilt Makers Guild, Texoma Applique Society, Senior Passport of WNJ Hospital, and The Red Hatters. She loved family get togethers and the holidays, quilting and many crafts, she loved the lake and camping…she loved life! Vi enjoyed her children and grandchildren and her great-grandchildren and her many friends. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. A rosary will be recited on Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at Dannel Funeral Home at 6:00pm and the family will receive friends following the rosary until 8:00pm. She will be cremated and interred in the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery at a later date. Deacon Albert Miller will lead the rosary. Vi was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Carol M. Lentz. She is survived by her 4 children: Patricia K. Taylor, Margaret Sanders, Barbara Romerhausen, and Michael Sanders; 8 grandchildren: Joshua Taylor, Jeremy Taylor, Jimmy Romerhausen, Erin Romerhausen, Tiffany Romerhausen, Michael, Monique, and Makayla Sanders; 15 great-grandchildren; sister, Ida Schiffbauer; brother in law Bob Lentz of Kansas and 2 nieces and 2 nephews .
