LIFE STORY OF VIOLET JUNE PEBLEY DOROTHY

As written by her Husband of 58 years ----

Born into this world on this day – May 29, 1939 in Alliance, Nebraska, to Mother Bonnie Person Pebley and Father Lysle Pebley. We are gathered this day again to celebrate Junes life with us in this world and her Re Birth into GOD’S HEAVEN March 15, 2021.

June is survived by daughter Susan Gregory, of Denton, Texas, son Jay David Dorothy, of Ft. Worth, Texas and brother Orvile (Bud) Pebley. June has 6 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

June spent all of her early life in Cheyenne, Wyoming where her mother was employed as an LVN at the Base Hospital for Francis E. Warren Airforce Base.

June learned early on the responsibility of having pets and maintaining their environment. Starting with pet rabbits, which she sold to finance the food, then moved to larger pets, that being horses. Then again came the problem of financing the food. June had developed early so she could pass for a year or two older, so at the age of 14 June went to work bussing tables and waitressing at a convention resort and truck stop just west of Cheyenne called Little America.

This proved to be a solution to the animal food but by the time June was sixteen the horse did not seem to be the desired transportation. So, along came the Drivers License and first automobile. That being a 1936 Chevy Coup. Still another food problem in the form of gasoline. June moved to an “inside” job of dispensing tickets to patrons of the local movie theatre. This allowed her time to do her school homework while the movie played and provided enough for gas money.

June graduated from Cheyenne High School in 1957 with a background in secretarial skills and bookkeeping. Using this background June continued to advance in her skill set and learn the characteristics of business and insurance.

Dean and June met in the Fall of 1962 being introduced by her boss at Teton Insurance Company in Cheyenne. So began a relationship of 59 years.

Dean and June were married on April 5, 1963 and began a life together. In 1964 Dean accepted a position as pilot for Braniff Airlines in Dallas, Texas.

So began the next adventure for June.

July of 1964 found the Dorothy’s headed South in a brand new Ford Galaxy with the obvious U-Haul trailer in tow. I might add---the new Ford cost a whopping $8,000 but with no air conditioning. This missing unit became a more prominent source of conversation as Dallas, Texas moved closer on the map. Dean had rented a small house in Irving near Plymouth Park shopping center with easy access to known roads to downtown Dallas and Love Field. So began the Texas lives of the Wyoming Dorothys.

In early August June interviewed and was hired by Garret-Winn Properties in the Southland Life Building downtown. At this time, 1964, the commute to downtown from Irving was an easy 15 minute drive. However, the earlier conversations concerning the Ford air conditioning were reaching near the same temperature as the August air around Dallas. Being a one car family is not real convenient under certain circumstance. Dean had some down time waiting his turn for training so the problem was solved by taking June to work---then a beeline to the Ford garage praying to finish the installation in time to get back to the Southland building to get June after work. A little late but, successful nonetheless.

The AC was great and the conversation going home was directed to picking up or not picking up pretty girls standing on the corner in Dallas. I leave the conclusion to that conversation to each of you as to the outcome…A second vehicle---with air conditioning---was the next purchase order.

The Fall of 1968 and Spring of 1969 gave way to the next adventure for the Dallas Dorothys. Construction on a new house in Denton, Texas was the ambition for that year. We moved in June of 1969 and this then became the Dorothy Home for the next 27 years.

In March of 1970 June interviewed and was accepted as Secretary to the City Manager of Denton. She always said that “this job is the best PR training you could ever have.”

June stayed with the City for four more years then the City Manager changes so she again began looking for bigger and better opportunities.

In 1975 June interviewed and was hired immediately as Clinic Administrator for University Medical Group. A new clinic was to open shortly in Denton and she was selected to be the overseeing factor to two Doctors and a full staff of Nurses.

A major step for a Secretary/Bookkeeper but she felt she could rise to the occasion. Obviously “no step for a stepper”. June maintained the position of Administrator for the Denton Clinic and was promoted to Director of Human Resources (HR) for all the clinics in the Dallas area. June remained with University Medical Group until she retired in 1996. It would be well to mention also June raised four children and fulfilled all the duties required in raising a family.

As I read over this brief attempt at condensing 59 years into 5 minutes I am reminded to recall the most important factor in June’s life….Her maintained relationship with Jesus Christ and study of 40 years of Prophecies of the Bible and the relationship of the Jewish people to the end times..She had great knowledge of the Bible and would gladly bring that information to any who might ask.

Her Prayer Life I am sure led to her success in this life and assured her a position in her new life. June’s life here on earth was not without failure and sorrow. June had two sons and a Grandson who preceded her in GOD’S calling. Still evidence of a strong woman with GODLY convictions….
