Virginia Louise Chisum Hooks 91, of Sherman passed away to glory Sat. March 21 st, 2026, in her home.

Virginia was born in Hooks, TX to Lewis and Annie Chisum on August 20, 1934. In 1952, Virginia married the love of her life Sam Hooks until his passing in 1995.

Visitation is on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, from 6pm - 8pm at Dannel Funeral home. Funeral services will be held at 1pm on Thursday March 26, 2026, at Dannel Funeral home with Dr. Mike Lawson officiating. Burial will follow at Georgetown Cemetery in Pottsboro, TX.

Virginia was an avid gardener, jelly maker, and quilter. She loved to share her quilts and jellies with everyone she met. She had a sweet and giving heart her whole life, there was never a stranger she didn’t love.

She is survived by her daughter, Sherry Wallis of Pottsboro, Texas and her son, Stan and wife Cindy Hooks of Spring, Texas. Sisters, Geraldina Briton of Hooks, Texas, Shirley Frachiseur of Grannis, Arkansas, and Barbara Frachiseur of Grannis, Arkansas. Three grandsons, Toby Wallis, Paul Montealvo and John Montealvo. Also, numerous great grandchildren including Kristina Kenney, Tyler Wallis, and Samantha Wallis who visited her frequently.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Sam, and 4 sisters, Ruby Halcomb, Clara Francis, Pauline roach and Melinda Taylor and 3 brothers, Willie Chisum, Leslie Chisum, and Mack Chisum. Her son in law, Ray Wallis and grandson Carry and Jason Wallis.

We would also like to say a special thank you to Birdie hospice and the wonderful nurses and aids who took such great care of her. She loved them all. And a special thank you to Tyler Wallis for the special care during the last few months, before her passing.
