Obituary For Walter Key
Walter W. Key age 66 passed away on Tuesday February 26 2013 at Texoma Medical Center. Graveside service will be held on Friday March 1 2013 at Cedarlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Sherman at 11:00 a.m. Dr. Chet Haney of Parkside Baptist Church in Denison will officiate. Military Honors will be accorded. Visitation will be on Thursday February 28th at Dannel Funeral Home from 7:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Walter was born on July 7 1946 in Sherman TX to Clarence Key and Maggie Forster Key. He attended Sherman Schools and was a Sherman High School football star. He served in the U.S. Marine Corp during Vietnam where he served 2 tours of combat and earning several Medals of Honor. In 2010 he retired from Texas Instruments/MEMC after 36 years of employment. Walter met the love of his life "Sheryl Pickering Garrison" while working at Texas Instruments. They were married on November 22 1996 in Sherman Texas. Out of this union they enjoyed seventeen wonderful years together. Walter enjoyed playing golf with his friends and family and was known to be a diehard Dallas Cowboy and Sherman Bearcat Fan. One of his favorite past times was to sit in the front yard talking with his special friend and neighbor Glen Voth. In their spare time they would both keep an eye on their neighborhood making sure that it was a safe haven. Surviving is his wife Sheryl Key of Sherman, sister Glenda Benedict of Sherman, children Brian Key of Anna TX daughter Cindy Thompson and husband Kyle of Tom Bean TX daughter Sandra Cavender and husband Matt of Howe TX stepchildren, Samuel Garrison and wife Rendee of Corinth TX Chris Garrison of Sherman TX one nephew Darrell Benedict of Sherman. He was also a proud grandfather to eight grandchildren, Haley Key Alex Garrison Levi Cavender Holly Cavender Brady Garrison Rylee Garrison Maddox Key and Payton Thompson.
