Obituary For William Edward Robbins

William E. (Bill) Robbins (94) passed away into the arms of God on August 24, 2024. Bill was born on July 13,1930 in West Haven, Connecticut and was the son of Edward and Jeannette Robbins.

Following graduation from West Haven High School, Bill enlisted in the United States Air Force and served from August 1948 to January 1956. During his military service he achieved the rank of Technical Sergeant and was stationed in numerous locations including Texas, Mississippi, Florida, California, Alaska, Japan and Korea during the Korean War. It was during this time that he met and married his wife Wanda Nelle Reeves. Together they raised three children, Sally, Bill and Bob. Wanda passed away at the age of 50 in 1978. Following his discharge from the Air Force, Bill went to work for Collins Radio as a field engineer for approximately one year before going to work for Texas Instruments in Dallas in August of 1957. Bill transferred to the newly opened Sherman plant in 1966, serving as an equipment maintenance technician, foreman and eventually manager until his retirement in July of 1985.

Bill met and married Patsy Henderson in 1979 and, following his retirement, they spent many happy years travelling the world together. Bill took great pleasure in sharing with others the stories of the places they had been and the sights they had seen. They enjoyed visiting with their combined family of children, grandchildren and great grandchildren until Patsy’s passing in January of 2023.

Bill is preceded in death by his wife Wanda Nelle Robbins, his wife Patsy Henderson Robbins, and his parents Edward and Jeannette Robbins. Bill is survived by his half-sister Judy Vergara; his daughter Sally J. Robbins; son William E. Robbins Jr. and wife Mary Ann and their daughters Brandi Garza and husband Juan and children Via and Tres, Susie Noble and husband Cameron, Katie, Allie, and Angie; and son Robert A. Robbins and his wife Eugenia; three step children Pamela Cardenas Henderson and her sons Major Austin Cardenas and Andrew Cardenas and wife Emily and children Sawyer, Andrew Jr., Ava Duarte and Adeline Duarte; Patty Riddels and husband Cameron and their sons Garrett Riddels and wife Jamie and children Caden and Ava, Gaylon Riddels and wife Cassidey and children Sloane, Wyatt and Cameron and Grayson Riddels and wife Samantha and children Grisham, Callen and Walt; Penny Spracklen and husband Paul and their sons Zane Burkhalter and wife Susie and children Jake and Rylee and Zachery Spracklen.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the heaven-sent caregivers that tirelessly tended to him for the past year. We could not have made it without them. On Thursday, August 29 th there will be a graveside service at Holloway Cemetery in Luella, TX at 11:00. Visitation will be Wednesday, August 28 th from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Dannel Funeral Home, 302 South Walnut in Sherman, Tx. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the charity of your choice.
