Obituary For Zachary Kane Bankston

Zachary Kane Bankston, 25, of Sherman, passed away on November 6th, 2022, in Sherman.

Zak was born in Sherman, TX on September 16th, 1997. He started school at Tom Bean ISD and graduated from Sherman High School in 2015.

As a child, Zak enjoyed boy scouts. He and his Uncle Phillip made a lot of memories building and racing derby cars. He participated in JR FFA and although he did not necessarily enjoy showing the goats, he enjoyed the money from the sale.

Zak took guitar lessons at a young age, which helped spark his passion for music. He was a talented musician and could play several instruments. He played in the Tom Bean Middle School Band and enjoyed playing music with his friends. When he wasn’t occupied with music, he liked to play video games and watch old movies.

Zak was blessed with a large loving family. He touched them all in his short life with his sense of humor and little goofy smiles.

Zachary is preceded in death by his loving Uncle Phillip Langford whom he teasingly called, “Mr. Wallet,” Aunt Janet “Net” Hawkins, and Cousin Savanna Glaser.

Zak is survived by his parents Doyle and Kathy Walker and Tara Bankston. Doyle and Kathy have always seen Zak as a beautiful gift from God who brought joy and happiness to their lives. Sister, Abby Bankston, grandparents Rick and Cindy Bankston and Sandy and Danny Smith, Great grandparents Jim and Raynell Glaser, Aunt Zoe Bankston and Uncle Craig Bankston, Aunt Billie Langford, and Cousins Dennie and Cale Dick, Kenzie and Adrian Frey, and many more family members.

Zak had such a kind and gentle heart. His sweet laugh and smiles will be missed by many friends and family.

Pallbearers will be Logan Norch, Logan Derichsweiler, Blake Smith, Jordan Grockett, Caroline Cooper, and Avory Johnson. Honorary Pallbearers will be Hayden Fraley and Cale Dick.

Visitation will be Friday, November 11th, at 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm at Dannel Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 pm Saturday, November 12th at Luella First Baptist Church with Bobby Hawkins of the church, officiating. Burial will follow at Whitemound Cemetery.

Arrangements are by Dannel Funeral Home.

Zak, I am heartbroken. We shared a lot of memories growing up. We had fun in scouts, worked together on a Texas History project, jammed out on the guitar, saw one of our favorite guitar players in concert, and so much more! You were truly gifted, and I looked up to you when we were growing up. I wish I could tell you how much of an inspiration you were in person. I hope I get to see you in the next life. I love you, my friend! To Zak's family, I am deeply sorry for your loss. Brad Presson
