Obituary For Zerma Atnip
Zerma Lea Atnip of Sherman died peacefully July 18 2012 at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital surrounded by family. Zerma Lea 92 years old was born September 27 1919 in Emmitt Okla. the daughter of James and Florence Moseley. After graduating from Durant High School she attended Southeastern Okla. State Univ. before moving to Sherman Texas. She met the love of her life Redellium L. Atnip while working for American Optical in the Commercial Building. Married January 26 1943 Zerma Lea and Redellium celebrated their sixty-ninth wedding anniversary this year. Zerma Lea retired from the Grayson County Tax office in 1982 and then went on to Grayson County College and earned her real estate license. She worked as a realtor in the family business Atnip and Associates. As a working wife and mother she never let working stop her from serving as a scout leader room mother for her children in school or being active in her church with her family serving as a Sunday school teacher and choir member. She will be remembered as a loving wife mother and grandmother who cherished her family and faith above everything. Zerma Lea is survived by her devoted husband R. L. Atnip of Sherman, daughter Kay (Tom) Carnes of Stuart FL, son Michael Atnip of Sherman, son Joe (Shanna) Atnip of McKinney, and grandchildren Jim (Donna) Carnes of Sherman, Laura (Kris) Creeden of Clermont FL, Chris (Jennifer) Carnes of Stuart FL, and Conner Atnip of McKinney. She was also blessed with six great-grandchildren: Brandon & Katelyn Carnes of Sherman, Courtney & Collin Creeden of Clermont FL, and Christopher & Kayla Carnes of Stuart FL. Visitation with family is Monday July 23 2012 from 7-8 pm at Dannel Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held in the Chapel of First Baptist Church of Sherman Tuesday July 24 2012 at 10:30 am. The Rev. Dr. Mike Lawson will officiate. Burial will follow at Cedarlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to First Baptist Church"¢s "Encouragement Ministry" which has played a major role in Zerma Lea"¢s life during her final years.
