Charles Dannel

Charles Dannel is the owner of Dannel Funeral Home in Sherman, Texas; the fifth generation in his family to serve the community as a licensed funeral director. Recognized for his experience, expertise and leadership, he has served on the boards of the North Texas Funeral Directors Association and Texas Funeral Services, Inc. 

His community involvement includes serving on many local boards in the Texoma area. Among them are Home Hospice of Grayson County, Sherman Historical Museum, Junior Achievement, and the Sherman Education Foundation. He has been a member of the Sherman Rotary Club. Charles attends First United Methodist Church in Sherman, serving on committees and Great Days of Service. 

He has two children, John Carlton Dannel III and Natalie Anne Dannel. He also has a boxer named Bella.

Charles is a life-long resident of Sherman. He is passionate about his community and the families who live here. He is honored to follow in the family tradition of caring for people in their time of need.

Walt Butterworth

Walt Butterworth

Walt Butterworth began working at Dannel Funeral Home 18 years ago after retiring from Texas Instruments. He started as a funeral attendant as a part-time second-career. As a full-time, integral member of the Dannel Funeral Home team, Walt’s compassionate care is especially valued by the families we serve. He and his wife, Sara, live in Denison and attend Fairview Baptist Church in Sherman.

William R. Caver

William R. Caver (Bill) is retired from the US Navy where he spent a year and a half in the Central Highlands of Vietnam. He was an EMT/firefighter in Texarkana, TX while completing his bachelors and masters degrees at East Texas State University. Bill retired as Director of Counseling and Testing at North Central Texas College in 2011 and now enjoys serving the community working with Dannel Funeral Home.

Leland Samuelson

Leland D. Samuelson

Leland D. Samuelson has been a pastor for over 30 years and has officiated at hundreds of funeral and memorial services. As Family Services Counselor and Advance Planning Specialist at Dannel Funeral Home, Leland provides thoughtful attention to families at the time of a loved one’s death, addressing specific needs and preferences. He is also available to assist individuals and families with pre-planning, guiding them through the process of customizing arrangements before they are needed.
